The driver and car

Angelo of Queens, N.Y. drives a 2002 Honda Accord EX V-6 coupe. This was the final year for the Accord’s sixth generation. This Accord’s 3.0-liter V-6 engine produces 200 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque and is paired a 4-speed automatic.

Angelo is the second owner of this Satin Silver Metallic Honda Accord, which has 100,000 miles on the clock. Honda discontinued both the Accord coupe and V-6 models following the 2017 model year. You can’t get anything close to this configuration anymore.

Factory options/packages

“EX Hondas usually come with all the goodies: leather seats, alloys, sunroof, premium sound with 6 disc changer(!), rear spoiler, etc.”

The Mods

“I personally haven’t done anything to the car yet — not even some fogs, which I would love — but have a laundry list of things I would love to do to it.”

Angelo’s Honda Accord story

“So where do I begin? I don’t remember where our love for Hondas started. I say ‘we’ because I have a twin brother who shares my passion for the Honda brand. People who don’t own or have never driven a Honda can not understand the pleasure of driving one. Plus there’s the fact that they are very very reliable!

“I’ll briefly touch on the fact that we ‘Honda twins’ were always the type to pull the motors out and swap them with something more bulletproof and versatile, and with more liters most of the time. I’m not even going to get into how many cars we’ve actually had because I lost count somewhere around 65. We’ve had everything from bubble-era Civic hatchbacks to EF hatches, including the CRX. That was one of our favorites. We also expanded to the more luxurious and, may I say, heavier Accords and Preludes!”

Of my own Accord

“This particular Honda Accord was gifted to me by my brother’s father-in-law. He was the original owner of the vehicle and took stupendous care of it. The car has a little over 100K baby’d miles on it! Leather is untouched, carpet and upholstery are showroom quality, and the drivability and mechanics of the car are very well kept.

“I use this car as a daily driver. I don’t put many miles on it because I work in the city and use public transportation, which is preserving the car. I’ve only had it for a few months, but like many of my previous Hondas, I had been scoping this car out for over a decade!

“I have future plans of swapping in a slightly bigger J-series engine out of a 2003 Acura CL Type-S with the 6-speed transmission and slapping on a supercharger. I might drop it a little bit for some tight cornering and then a nice tasteful exhaust would top everything off. Dreaming now but soon, soon!”

Angelo’s other current/previous vehicles

“A list of my previous vehicles would be way way too long but I can put down a few here. I had a 2000 EM1 Honda Civic SI. It was Milano Red and was the first American Civic with a DOHC motor, the B16. That was a big thing.

“My other Honda cars include a 1991 CRX Si. I bugged a guy for 11 years to get this one. I finally did, and then it was totalled. I also had a 1991 Civic hatchback with a long story attached. I first saw it parked on a street in Flushing. I left the owner a note saying I was interested in buying it. He called me and gave me a good price. I was there the next day with cash in hand and I took the car home.

“Then the Civic hatch got stolen. I went online to the NYC Department of Finance website to see if there were any flags on the car. It turned out the guy got a street cleaning ticket and still had my tags and registration on the car. I was able to see the address where it was ticketed. I waited around for weeks until the car was parked there again. Turns out it was right in front of his house and I found him sitting in it. I called the cops and got him arrested while he was still inside my stolen car. So I got it back.”

Eclectic collection

“I’ve had plenty of other tasteful and fun cars ranging from a 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI to a 1996 5-speed Mitsubishi 3000GT SL. I also had a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spider GST. That one was front-wheel drive with a turbo, 5-speed transmission, and a power convertible top — pretty rare!”

A herd of Mustangs

I love my Ford Mustangs. I had a 1986 Mustang GT hatchback with a manual. It was painted in a rare Regatta Blue and I wish I hadn’t gotten rid of it.

“I also had a 1988 Mustang LX with T-tops. There were just 270 made that year, but I had to get rid of it due to rust issues. I currently own a 1986 LX notchback 5.0. It has 80,000 original miles and zero to no rust. It is completely stock and even the airbox and exhaust are all original. You’ll see this car featured on NewYorKars soon!
