The Lightyear One is the world’s first long-range solar-powered electric car. It can be charged via its solar panels or plugged into a conventional charger. It replenishes its battery while parked or in motion. Lightyear claims a 450-mile range. Prices start at about $170,000 and a European release is expected for early 2021.
Ford & Volkswagen are extending their partnership to share costs in developing of electric & autonomous vehicles. The deal includes investments in Argo AI. The two carmakers first announced their collaborative efforts for medium trucks and commercial vans in January.
Lamborghini’s Huracán Sterrato is an off-road supercar based on the Hurácan Evo. The one-off concept uses the Evo’s V-10 engine and adds a reinforced frame, skid plates, roll cage, and enhanced LED lighting.
Following its announcement of the latest V-Series cars, Cadillac brought out CT4-V and CT5-V prototypes to the track at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. The production vehicles are slated for release in 2020.
