The Lightyear One is the world’s first long-range solar-powered electric car. It can be charged via its solar panels or plugged into a conventional charger. It replenishes its battery while parked or in motion. Lightyear claims a 450-mile range. Prices start at about $170,000 and a European release is expected for early 2021.
The 2020 Mini Cooper SE is BMW’s first all-electric car since the i3. It is based on the standard Mini Cooper 2-door and will have a range of about 140 miles. Production starts at the end of the year and it should reach U.S. shores in March 2020.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the hit video game Stardew Valley will soon be available to play on the in-car Tesla Arcade gaming hub. It joins a suite of games already available, including Cuphead and classic Atari titles.
Pickups, luxury vehicles, and vehicles with large engines top the Highway Loss Data Institute’s (HLDI) list of vehicles most likely to be stolen. Electric vehicles occupy the other end of the spectrum and have traditionally been targeted less often by thieves.
Ford & Volkswagen are extending their partnership to share costs in developing of electric & autonomous vehicles. The deal includes investments in Argo AI. The two carmakers first announced their collaborative efforts for medium trucks and commercial vans in January.
